This 5" (5-inch) TFT touchscreen screen/display with a resolution of 800 x 480 is perfect for your Raspberry Pi boards. With a DSI interface, true color display, easy installation, and space-saving design, it is a perfect touchscreen monitor for your DIY and on-the-go projects! What we like about this screen is the DSI cable provides the path for both the power and data (graphic and touch sensor), no additional wiring is needed! Super neat.

The touchscreen and display work right out of the box with Raspberry Pi OS bullseye, we have tested with 32GB MakerDisk preloaded with Raspberry Pi OS MicroSD card. No additional driver installation is needed.

One of the popular applications is to integrate with OctoPrint, together with OctoDash or OctoScreen.

Note: We notice the WiFi connection on Raspberry Pi 4 Model B will be slow. However, it will still connect to WiFi AP :) Just a little more time. We believed this is due to the PCB antenna on the Raspberry Pi board, and the DSI cable is near that antenna; the wireless signal will be attenuated a little bit. Using the PCB Spacers (included) to increase the gap between the LCD and Raspberry Pi will help.

Hardware Installation Guide

  1. Get the parts ready, you will need:
  2. Flip the screen/display to the back, the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B should be installed at the back of the display.
  3. Peel off the protective sheet (yellow translucent) on the mounting hole.

  1. Insert the microSD card into the Raspberry Pi 4 Model B's microSD card slot properly.

  1. Align the Raspberry Pi board to the mounting holes, and secure the Raspberry Pi to the screen with the provided screws. Make sure the DSI port of Raspberry Pi is facing the Display port of the screen.

  1. Now, loosen the Display port locker by pushing it up.

  1. Insert the FFC cable into the Display port of the screen. Ensure the copper pads are facing up, NOT the black color side.

  1. Push down the locker to lock the FFC cable.
  2. Next, loosen the DSI port locker on the Raspberry Pi board, insert the other end of the FFC cable, and make sure it is fully inserted until the copper pads are covered.

  1. Lock the DSI port. Now you are ready to power it. Insert the USB-C jack into the Raspberry Pi's Power-In USB-C port.
  2. There are several indicator LEDs. Raspberry Pi has Power and Activity indicator LEDs, while the screen has a power indicator LED too.

  1. You can now flip it over to look and use the screen.
  2. You can use the rotary knob to adjust the screen's backlight.
  3. There is also a slide switch (next to the rotary knob) to flip the orientation of the screen.

  1. You can also use the extra PCB spacers to increase the gap between the Raspberry Pi board and the screen to get better wireless connectivity. An example:

  1. Or use the PCB spacers as the stand for the screen.
