Description

Brushed motor is the most widely used motor because of the ease of operation. Just supply the two terminals DC power supply, the motor will start rotating! Yet, you need a good motor driver to control the speed and direction from microcontroller. You are at the right page, MD13S is one of the easiest to use brushed motor driver.

MD13S has great improvement in current protection which MD10C does not have. With new circuit and design, MD13S is able to limit and support current up to 30A max(10 seconds). And the continuous current is at 13A without heatsink (at room temperature of 25°C).

Not to forget it is GROVE compatible, so get yourself a Grove shield. Oh, did I mention? MD13S is smaller than MD10C :)

Which brush motor is good to be driven by MD13S? As long as the motor:

  • Is DC Brush motor (Two Terminals)
  • Operating voltage from 6V to 30V
  • Rated Current ≤ 13A
  • Peak Current ≤ 30A

Example of suitable DC brush motor with MD13S (Not limit to):

Features:

  • Bi-directional control for 1 brushed DC motor
  • Support motor voltage from  6V to 30VDC
  • Maximum current up to 13A continuous and 30A peak (10 seconds)
  • GROVE compatible
  • 3.3V and 5V logic level input.
  • Solid state components provide faster response time and eliminate the wear and tear of mechanical relay
  • Fully NMOS H-Bridge for better efficiency and no heat sink is required
  • Regenerative Braking
  • Speed control PWM frequency up to 20KHz (Actual output frequency is same as input frequency)
  • Support both locked-antiphase and sign-magnitude PWM operation, *NOT RC (Radio Control) PWM
  • SMD compatible
  • RoHS, FCC and CE compliance
  • Dimension: 61mm x 33mm

Documents/Example Code:

Packing List:

  • 1 x MD13S motor driver board
  • 1 x Green + Black 2-way terminal blocks (Normally Black is for Motor, Green is for Power)
  • 1 x Grove connector (Grove to Grove)

HelloMy company is using Cytron 13A for the developpement of our robot. In order to prepare the technical file for CE marking, we need to get the CE certificate of all the sub-components.Could you provide it for Cytron 13A board?Best Regards,Sébastien ( Sebastien, 16/06/2022 )
Hello there Sébastien,You can get the CE certificate from the product page Documents and also directly from the link here CE Certificate.
Could you tell me the internal resistance for the Input-PWM pin. ( Aki, 04/04/2022 )
Hi. PWM pin is > 70k ohm and DIR pin is > 10k ohm
Is there a possibility to disable the motor brake moment? I would have my motor free spinning when the motor driver has no power. thanks! ( Peter, 11/10/2021 )
Hi, you may drop an email to support@cytron.io for further technical assistance. Thanks:)
Hi, is my cytron md13s destroyed if I connect it only to power (+ and -, 24V) and the error led is on? ( Carlos, 21/09/2021 )
Hi, you may drop an email to support@cytron.io for further technical assistance. Thanks:)
is it compatible with Raspberry Pi? Do you have any integration examples? ( Nikolay, 11/03/2021 )
Not answered yet.
What power supply should be used with this board? ( Al, 11/12/2020 )
Hi, you may consider LiPo or SLA battery. Thanks :)
Hi!What current is required for PWM and direction inputs? I want to use this driver with PLC, but its outputs are 24V. So i want to use resistors to reduce the voltage. ( Aleksandr, 24/04/2020 )
Hi, you may drop an email to support@cytron.io for technical assistance. Our team will reply to you as soon as possible Thanks :)
What is the manufacturer/series of locking connector used on the control cable so I can design a board that will connect directly to the supplied cable? It doesn't seem to be a JST-PA which is the closest I've found. ( Ian, 15/03/2020 )
Hi, you may drop an email to support@cytron.io for further inquiries. Thanks :)
What is the operating temperature range spec? ( Larry, 28/01/2020 )
HI, we never tested the temperature range. But all components are rated from -40C to 105C except the MOSFET which can go as high as 170C.
Is there anywhere I can tap 5v from this board to power uno board? ( Bard, 05/10/2019 )
Hi! You may consider this item. Thanks :)
