DMQ-9 gas sensor has high sensitity to Carbon Monoxide, Methane and LPG. The sensor can be used to detect different gases containing CO and combustible gases, it is low cost and suitable for different applications.

Sensitive material of MQ-9 gas sensor is SnO2, which has a lower conductivity in clean air. It makes detection by cycling high and low temperature, and detects CO when low temperature (heated by 1.5V). The sensor’s conductivity is higher along with the gas concentration rising. When high temperature (heated by 5.0V), it detects Methane, Propane etc combustible gas and cleans the other gases adsorbed under low temperature.

Applications: Domestic gas leakage detector, industrial gas detector, portable gas detector, etc.

Specification:
  • Power supply: 5V
  • Interface type: Analog
  • Pin Definition: 1-Output 2-GND 3-VCC Sensor
  • Type: Semiconductor
  • Concentration:
    • 10-1000ppm CO
    • 100-10000ppm combustible gas
  • Good sensitivity to CO/Combustible gas

hi can this sensor detect acetylene gas? ( jerol, 16/06/2016 )

Hi. You need to know the acetylene gas composition. The sensor can be used to detect different gases containing CO and combustible gases, and has high sensitity to Carbon Monoxide, Methane and LPG. Thanks :)

Can this sensor detect smoke from cigarette? ( Haqim, 17/02/2016 )

Hi, You need to check what are the gas contained in the cigarette smoke and compare with the gas that can be detect by this sensor. Note that it has high sensitity to Carbon Monoxide, Methane and LPG. Thanks. :)

Can i know what is A,B and H pin?Sorryi not really undertstand the schematic diagram given. Thanks ( Junseen, 25/11/2015 )

Hi, you can refer to datasheet (page 2) provided under "Attachment" tab. Thanks. :)

Hi,can use 9V battery directly supply voltage to the sn-mq9 sensor? or have to use voltage regulator to step down to 5v? ( Yap Jun Seen, 24/11/2015 )

Hi, As stated, power supply for this sensor is 5V. So it is need to step down the voltage to 5V. Thanks. :)

I use my digital multimeter to perform continuity test and i realize the SN-MQ9 sensors' pin2-VCC and pin3-GND are interconnected? Can someone help me solve this problem? Thanks ( junseen, 28/04/2015 )

Yes, the Vcc and GND is at low resistance because the heating coil is connected to Vcc and GND. Please use low resistance check instead to check, you should get some resistance.

I recently purchased the MQ9 gas sensor from you all. It is not the same as the picture and there is no label on the board to indicate Vcc, GND, S. I need to know the pin layout in order test the sensor. Please furnish my with the details asap. Thanks ( Poobahlan, 20/12/2014 )

Thanks for the feedback. We did not notice the manufacturer change the design. Anyway we have updated the pins assignment in the product page, please visit it :)

Can this sensor detect the gas from a lighter? ( NHA, 17/12/2014 )

Nop, as far as we know, the gas in lighter is Butane and Butane is not listed in this gas sensor.
