Ever wanted to use low cost ultrasonic distance sensor on 3.3V system such as Espresso Lite V2.0 or NodeMCU? HC-SR04 can only be powered at 5.0V, this constrain the usage on 5V system.
Now this tiny ultrasonic distance/range sensor can work from 3.0V to 5.5VDC, and the interface protocol is compatible with HC-SR04, you can utilze the sample code of HC-SR04 :) Best of all, it specially designed IC that minimize the blind range to 1cm from sensor (HC-SR04 is 2cm).
Ultrasonic sensor is created based on the principle of echolocation used by animals like bats and dolphins. Since ultrasonic sensor uses sonar to determine the distance to an object, its operation is not affected by sunlight, spotlight and object's surface color which will affect the readings of any infrared distance sensors. However acoustically soft materials such as clothes can be difficult to detect.
And of course it is compatible with Arduino :)
